What Happened
As votes are counted in the United States midterm elections, users can track the results in real time using the Apple News app, according to 9to5Mac. The feature covers the elections where all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats are up for election.
How It Works
U.S. users can open the Apple News app and select the banner labeled “Follow the 2026 midterms live” located at the top of the screen. Enabling this option activates a Live Activity that delivers vote count updates directly to the iPhone Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island on supported models, allowing users to monitor the counts while using other applications.
Additionally, users following results on a computer can view these Live Activities in the Mac menu bar by utilizing iPhone Mirroring, a feature included in macOS Tahoe 26. The Apple News app also offers further coverage and analysis regarding the 2026 midterm elections.
