New Kindle Accessories and Lineup
Amazon introduced a fresh look for its Kindle e-readers featuring three new models, metallic color options, and several new accessories, according to Wired. Among the various new gear accompanying the hardware refresh, the most affordable offering is the Amazon Kindle Click priced at $35.
The Kindle Click Features and Design
The Kindle Click is Amazon's first Bluetooth Kindle page turner. It is designed to pair with the two latest generations of Kindles released in 2024 and 2026. The lightweight handheld remote lets users turn pages, scroll up and down the screen, and adjust brightness. It features two large buttons on the front for page turning and two smaller buttons on the right ridge for brightness adjustments. According to Wired, the brightness adjustment capability serves as a useful bonus for an accessory at this price point.
The device charges via USB-C and comes with a wrist strap to prevent accidental drops. Battery life specifics are not fully detailed beyond lasting for weeks. The Click serves as an accessibility tool for users who cannot comfortably hold an e-reader and tap pages continuously, making it well-suited for setups involving a Kindle holder or repurposed tablet holder.
The design avoids cumbersome aftermarket alternatives that rely on two separate parts, such as a screen-blocking clip and a remote, both requiring separate charging. When navigating with the Click, the higher button on the side moves users down a page while the lower button moves back up.
Pricing and Alternative Options
The Kindle Click is nearly half the price of the $80 Kindle page-turn cover, which requires one of the new Kindle Signature Edition models starting at $250. Buying a new e-reader and the page-turn cover brings the total cost to $330. Alternatively, users might consider the Kobo Libra Colour priced at $258, which features built-in physical page-turn buttons, or face a $400 total expense when combining the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition with the button case, as reported by Wired.
While the Kindle Click works with any Kindle from 2024 onward, older device owners may need to upgrade or consider shopping sales events like Black Friday for the 2024 models. Due to its popularity after launching, the Kindle Click has experienced shipping delays taking a few weeks.
